Hi! I’m Nguyen Song Thien Long (publication
name: Long S. T. Nguyen
). I’m a third-year undergraduate student in Computer
Science at the Ho Chi Minh City University of
Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam.
I am currently a Research Assistant at the URA Research Group, working under the supervision of Prof. Quan Thanh Tho (Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, HCMUT). I am also an AI Researcher at the Center for AI Research (CAIR), VinUniversity, under the mentorship of Prof. Luu Anh Tuan (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore).
Before university, I studied in the math-specialized program at Ben Tre High School for Gifted Students. I am originally from Ben Tre, Vietnam.
My research interests lie in Natural Language Processing (NLP), with a focus on Information Retrieval (IR), Question Answering (QA), and Large Language Models (LLMs). My work centers on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), hybrid lexical–semantic retrieval, and reliable reasoning in both agent-based and standalone LLM systems. I am particularly interested in developing efficient, interpretable, and trustworthy methods for low-resource and multilingual settings, especially Vietnamese and under-resourced ethnic languages, with applications including Neural Machine Translation (NMT).
